Back to school: How to make 2026 count

Back to school: How to make 2026 count

05.01.2026

As the holidays come to a close and thoughts turn to the new year, we’ve created the ultimate guide to preparing for hitting the ground running in 2026.

So, dig out the rucksack from the back of the wardrobe and let’s get cracking.

Refresh your brain

Refresh your brainBefore jumping into the new year, it’s worth taking a moment to look back on the three months of learning that’s already been and gone.

Spending a little bit of time reading back over notes from last year will help reinforce the knowledge that’s already been picked up, while also getting the brain back into gear.

If you’re signed up to MyEdSpace, now is an ideal time to re-attempt some of the quizzes from the last few months, and re-watch any lessons or video walkthroughs you’re not confident with.

Plan ahead

While the weather remains cold, those all-important exams in spring and summer can feel a long way away, but they will come-around fast.Create a study plan

Now is the ideal time to start thinking about a study plan to help get prepared.

When plotting your path to exam success, it’s helpful to start by listing all the subjects you’ll need to cover, and breaking them down into individual topics. For example, if you’re already studying on MyEdSpace, you could simply follow the monthly modules plan.

Next, think about how well you already understand each area, and use this to prioritise where and when to focus. While it makes sense to focus on those topics you’re less confident on, don’t forget to dedicate some time to revisiting areas you know well.

As you get closer to the exams, you’ll find these priorities will shift so don’t be afraid to update your plan as your knowledge and understanding grows.

To help you get started, we’ve created this free revision plan template.

Gain every advantage you can

If you want to give yourself the best possible chance of exceeding expectations in 2026, the data shows that studying with MyEdSpace doubles - or even triples - your chances of achieving top grades.

  • Almost twice as many of our A-level Biology students achieved A or A* (45%), nationwide it was 28%

  • Over half of our A-level students have been admitted into Russell Groups universities (56%) compared to only 27% across the UK
