When do courses run?

Our core subject courses run from September to June - with breaks for Christmas and Easter - following the academic year.

Our online courses can be joined at any time. All live lessons are recorded, and available for students throughout the course (up to July 31st), regardless of when they start.

During the year we also run a variety of courses to prepare for exams, or to give students a head start over the holidays. These include;

  • September - UCAT preparation

  • April - Easter revision

  • July to September - 11+ preparation

  • August - Summer school

Are there any special requirements for enrolling?

No. There are no special prerequisites for enrolling in MyEdSpace courses.

All you need is a reliable internet connection, a device to access our learning platform and a willingness to get involved.

Can I speak directly to the teachers?

Unfortunately, the teachers don't have the capacity to speak directly to every student

So that our teachers can focus on what they do best; teaching and filming content, we have a dedicated support team of mentors, moderators and a Customer Success team all available to offer help and support.

Course FAQs

How do the courses work?

Lessons take place on YouTube Live.

By delivering lessons in this way, we can provide the best student experience without distractions: students don't use cameras or microphones, so everyone stays focused.

Our teachers are experts in providing safe, engaging learning environments, where there is zero-judgment and questions are encouraged. That’s a big part of why we hired them.

Learning alongside their peers encourages more questions and collaboration, boosting confidence, engagement and energy levels, which can be lost in a more intimidating 1-to-1 setting where anxious students can feel ‘put on the spot’.

All student cameras are switched off, so there’s no distractions. There’s no pressure and no student appears on screen and their real-life identity is hidden behind the anonymity of a username and avatar.

We’ve found that this makes all students substantially more likely to contribute by asking and answering questions, while also providing a 'strength in numbers' feeling of reassurance and all the other benefits associated with collaborative learning. On average, each student sends 25 messages into the chat per lesson, creating an incredibly interactive atmosphere.

Lessons can also be re-watched via the same link at any time, for revision purposes so you never miss out on any content.

Additionally, the pro package includes a 1-1 Personal Mentor who you can contact outside of lesson time, which is not available in the Standard package.

Accessing lessons is simple:

1 - Sign in to your YouTube account and give yourself a username. Make sure you are NOT using YouTube Kids account (as this restricts live-chat feature)

2 - Subscribe to the teacher's channel, refresh the page and find the live lesson

3 - To put the question in the live-chat, tag the teacher by using @ + teacher's name

4 - During the lesson, stay on topic and don’t share any personal information (or you will be temporarily suspended from chat)

How does 1-to-1 mentor support work?

1-to-1 mentor support for any outside-of-lesson subject related questions is available with all our Pro packages.

Support is provided by WhatsApp message to the number provided on the student dashboard.

Our mentor team have all been trained by our teachers, all excelled in their A-levels and all currently attend top UK universities like Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College London.

We’ve found that our mentors similar age makes it easier for students to connect with them, building trust and understanding.

Which is more effective, group learning or 1-to-1, private tuition?

Collaborative group learning provides numerous benefits which are lost in 1-to-1 tutoring and private tuition.

First, learning alongside their peers encourages more questions and collaboration, boosting confidence, engagement and energy levels, which can be lost in a more intimidating 1-to-1 setting where anxious students can feel ‘put on the spot’.

Our teachers are experts in providing safe, engaging learning environments, where there is zero-judgment and questions are encouraged. That’s a big part of why we hired them.

All student cameras are switched off, so no student appears on screen and their real-life identity is hidden behind the anonymity of a username and avatar.

We have chosen our specific way of delivering lessons to ensure that there’s no pressure to speak on camera or in front of the class – students can participate through the chat and ask questions anonymously.

We have found that this makes all students substantially more likely to contribute by asking and answering questions, while also providing a 'strength in numbers' feeling of reassurance and all the other benefits associated with collaborative learning.

We have found that each student on average sends 25 messages into the chat per lesson, creating an incredibly interactive atmosphere.

It’s quite difficult to find the right tutors for your kids. Parents often have to decide between cheaper, but less experienced tutors or highly qualified ones that ask for thousands per subject.

We do things differently. We use technology and scale to cut overheads without cutting quality. By bringing people together, we ensure every child can access the UK’s top teaching talent at a fraction of the cost of hiring a private tutor.

Only the top 1% of teachers who apply to work with us are successful. Meaning you can rest assured that instead of a Grad Student looking to earn a few extra £s, your child is learning from highly-qualified teachers, who’ve spent years honing their talent for educating.

With MyEdSpace, there’s no compromise on quality - you’re just not paying for empty travel time or inefficiencies. It’s a 10x better education, at 10% of the cost.

Don't just take our word for it. We have over 1,500 5* star reviews from parents and students on Trustpilot.

What do MyEdSpace courses contain?

Our courses include two, interactive live lessons, per subject, per week, delivered by the UK’s top teaching talent.

Alongside the live lessons, each course also includes tailored workbooks, targeted homework and step-by-step video explanations for every topic, to reinforce learning. Recordings of the live lessons, plus all the additional materials are available on-demand, 24/7, allowing them to be revisited at any time.

Students enrolled in the Pro package also receive personalised mentor support.

Meanwhile, parents receive a monthly progress report detailing how their child is getting on.

What exam boards do the courses cover?

We’re not officially affiliated with any exam board.

Our teachers have created an extensive curriculum for each year group they teach so we can ensure your child learns all the relevant content.

This may mean that the week that we cover each topic doesn’t exactly match your child’s school, but our experience has never shown this to be beneficial for students. This is because they either discover a topic with MyEdSpace before their school and finds themselves ahead of their classmate. Or, alternatively, they learn the subject at school first and MyEdSpace acts as revision to solidify the understanding. Either way, it’s win-win.

For a more detailed breakdown of the exam boards our courses are designed to cover;

  • Maths: Works with ALL exam boards

  • Sciences: AQA focus (+ OCR for A-level) with 80%+ overlap for other boards

  • English: Skills-based approach works across all boards, AQA-optimised

Unfortunately, we don’t cover WJEC exam board.

How can I be sure that each student gets enough attention?

Our teachers are experts in providing safe, engaging learning environments, where there is zero-judgment and questions are encouraged. That’s a big part of why we hired them.

To make sure every student is working at a level that’s right for them, every student’s progress is monitored and each month parents receive a progress report.

If we feel that a student is struggling, or not being pushed hard enough, we can adjust the year group, or course level up or down accordingly.

If you want to discuss changing levels at any time, our Customer Success team are here to help.

What if I can't attend a lesson?

Not being able to attend the live lessons is not a problem.

We record all lessons to ensure that the students never miss any content and have access to them as valuable revision materials when preparing for exams.

We recommend getting in touch with the mentor while watching a session back, too, for any extra support.

How many students are in a lesson?

Just like a university lecture, our live lessons teach hundreds of students together.

We don't set a limit to the number of students. While this might seem unusual, having a larger group actually fosters a sense of community. The students motivate one another, making the learning experience more fun.

The result is students who were quiet in school become active, engaged learners who look forward to lessons.

This scale means we can hire the UK's top teachers and still keep costs low for families. Students still get the required support, with the teachers and moderators answering questions in real time to keep everyone engaged.

Plus, with our Pro Packages, each student is paired with a personal mentor who can provide additional support outside of lesson time. If a student is struggling with the course or their schoolwork, they simply message their mentor and receive quick and helpful answers.
