‘Get the best of both worlds' - Gurpreet’s MyEdSpace story
“I've got three kids. I'm not going to put all three of them through private school. But I do want to be able to make sure that they can achieve their best,” begins Gurpreet when recalling how and why he came to enroll his children with MyEdSpace.
“The school that they were at wasn't particularly great, and I thought they weren't reaching their potential” he recalls.
“There is a pressure on parents just to try anything and everything. I'd already been trying a few other things - tuition centers, Kumon - that was quite expensive and it was only half an hour to an hour a week - I thought they needed a lot more than that.”
Not sure where to turn next in a bid to help his daughters reach their full potential, Gurpreet came across maths tutorials on YouTube from MyEdSpace Head of Maths, Neil Trivedi.

“Neil clearly excelled at school - he'd done very well in his GCSEs and A-level Maths and then studied Maths at university. So there was confidence that he could deliver. I took the step and signed them up to MyEdSpace and didn't look back,” he explains.
His decision was quickly vindicated, with clear improvements across the board - most notably for Gurpreet’s youngest.
“The teacher commented how she's really improving in her maths”, he begins before purposefully adding, “the stress has come down. There's less to worry about. They're in good hands.”
Gurpreet had found what he was looking for, an environment in which his girls were supported and encouraged to reach their full potential.
“If you want something that is low cost, but with maximum results, then this is to die for,” he beams. “They are learning something and there's proof as well.”
For Gurpreet, a major draw was MyEdSpace's approach to live online lessons, where students join anonymously alongside their peers...
“You're getting the best of both worlds. You've got the classroom environment but without the behavior problems that come with it. You can make sure they're getting ‘set one’ education with the best teachers.”
Stories like Gurpreet’s add to a growing body of anecdotal evidence, backed up by data. For example, we looked at student interaction within MyEdSpace lessons and compared them to traditional classroom settings. We found that in a traditional classroom the average child rarely raises their hand, at most once a lesson. Meanwhile in the average MyEdSpace lesson, a student interacts through the live chat between 20 and 30 times.
Head of Chemistry Lajoy Tucker explains why she thinks this is; “MyEdSpace gives students a safe, low-pressure way to learn. The level of anonymity learning online provides - especially compared to a traditional classroom - allows students to ask questions they might not feel comfortable asking if they were surrounded by people."

"That, in turn, creates space for different kinds of learners, especially those who don’t always feel seen in traditional classrooms. They’re learning in a way that works for them, they’re not surrounded by their peers, so they often feel more comfortable asking questions, and they’re supported throughout. It’s not unusual for students to go from totally silent to actively participating, just because they feel safe and supported in this environment. It really helps build confidence, and when students feel confident, they’re more likely to succeed.”
A recent survey showed that this is the experience of other parents and their children too, with a whopping 95% of parents reporting that they found learning on MyEdSpace helpful for their child’s education. In the same survey, 83% of parents noticed a positive attitude change in their child after using MyEdSpace.
Or, as Gurpreet puts it, “it’s high quality education at a fraction of the price”.
