Free GCSE English revision resources

24.02.2026

GCSE English is the study of both the language and the literature.

The two-year course covers everything from the tools and techniques you need to write, or analyse text, through to detailed looks at classics including 'MacBeth' and 'An Inspector Calls'.

As part of our 2026 GCSE revision week, our expert biology teachers, Louis Provis, Alex Sarychkin and Eleanor St John Sutton, are opening up their collection of step-by-step video explanations, detailed revision notes and practice questions - in short, everything you need to walk into your GCSE English exam feeling full of confidence and ready to show off what you know.

Also, if you haven’t already signed up, it’s not too late to secure your place on our dedicated GCSE revision course this Easter. The first 25 hours are completely free.GCSE English revision topics

The resources are split into modules, covering the full UK, GCSE English curriculum:

  1. 19th century texts (‘Jekyll and Hyde’, and the ‘Christmas Carol’)

  2. Love and relationships anthology

  3. Power and conflict anthology

  4. Modern texts (‘Blood Brothers’ and ‘An Inspector Calls’)

  5. Shakespeare (‘Romeo and Juliet’, and ‘Macbeth’)

  6. Unseen poetry

  7. Reading (Writer’s viewpoints and perspectives)

  8. Writing (Narrative, descriptions and persuasion)

Each module is further broken down into topics and sub-topics.

For example, in Shakespeare students will study the context, plots, characters and themes of both ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’, before working on practice questions and model answers.

While these notes are invaluable, this is just the start.Year 11 GCSE English course
