From GCSE to A-level, two years with MyEdSpace
Olutomi and Tolatosh’s MyEdSpace story
For Olutomi, revision did not always feel purposeful. It wasn’t that she lacked motivation, she just didn’t know how to revise effectively.
“I wasn’t really sure about my revision method,” she admits. “I would just read and try to do flashcards”.
At the same time Olutomi’s sister was also in need of some extra educational support, so mum Tolatosh turned to private tutors for help, but the costs and travel were prohibitive.
Tolatosh explains. “My daughters have always been open to learning, but before if they didn’t understand or enjoy their homework, they wouldn’t even attempt it”, she adds.
So, two years ago while Olutomi was in the midst of her GCSEs, along with her sister, she joined MyEdSpace and found what she’d lacked; a structure.
“MyEdSpace gave me something to come home to every day,” she explains. “It was something I had to attend. I had lessons, and then I tried to do the homework after every lesson. I remember one of my GCSE Biology lessons helped me understand topics I wasn’t sure about before”, Olutomi remembers.
Mum Tolatosh credits the MyEdSpace teachers for the shift. “The teachers make it fun,” she says. “Some of the teachers are quite funny. You don’t expect that. You expect them to be very serious, but they explain things in a light, engaging way students can connect with. The children find it more interesting on MyEdSpace. They try to do the homework and they actually look forward to it”.
For Olutomi, the routine and enjoyment of learning that MyEdSpace gave her helped turn revision from a struggle into a habit, in-turn helping her prepare for her upcoming GCSE exams.
“The homework helped me get used to exam questions,” she says. “It helped me understand what the exams would actually be like. They were really helpful, especially close to the exam day.”
Two years later, both sisters remain with MyEdSpace and Olutomi is now preparing for her A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths.

As for upcoming exams, she feels cautiously confident. “I’m hopeful,” she says. “Once I get my revision strategy in place, I think I’ll be ready.”
For Olutomi and her family, MyEdSpace has not been about last-minute fixes or exam panic. It has been about steady progress, routine, and confidence built lesson by lesson.
“Anything online, you naturally wonder how effective it will be,” she says. “But the world has moved on. They’ve been on MyEdSpace for two years now, and any fears we had have been taken care of. It’s helped them, and it’s helped us as parents”.
