“MyEdSpace makes learning fun”
Lawrencia John Oshigbo’s MyEdSpace story
Like many students, Lawrencia used to see revision as something difficult to prioritise, especially during the holidays.
“In the holidays, it’s easy to get distracted and forget about school,” she explains. “MyEdSpace helped me focus on my grades and think about the year ahead.”
For Lawrencia, now in Year 9, her MyEdSpace journey began with the Summer School, before continuing into the new academic year with regular lessons in English, Maths and Science.
The timing of her discovery of MyEdSpace has proven especially important, because it’s in Year 9 when students begin making decisions about what subjects they want to study at GCSE.
“It can be really nerve-wracking choosing your options,” she begins. “The course helped me understand everything before starting the school year. Preparing before the year begins is a really great thing to do.”
By starting the year with a clearer mindset and stronger foundations, Lawrencia felt ready to build on her progress from day one.
“It helped me understand more things earlier than I would have otherwise, so my grades were already in a good place. That means I can keep improving over the next few years with MyEdSpace.”
From “revision is boring” to feeling motivated
Before joining MyEdSpace, revising simply didn’t appeal to Lawrencia.
“I didn’t really like revision. I thought it was boring. Schoolwork already felt hard enough, so I didn’t want to go home and revise as well.”
That qucikly changed once she started learning with MyEdSpace.
“It’s really easy to interact with the lessons. You have people encouraging you and you realise there are other students in the same position as you. That makes you want to improve.”
What once felt like a chore became something far more engaging and motivating.
Making challenging subjects feel achievable
Maths has always been Lawrencia’s most challenging subject, but studying Maths with Neil Trivedi has transformed how she approaches it.
“Neil made me think about Maths in a completely different way. He showed me that Maths lessons can actually be fun. The teachers really break things down and listen to what students need help with. They take what you don’t understand and use it to teach everyone. That makes it much easier to learn.”
Learning that goes beyond the classroom
One of the biggest differences Lawrencia notices between school and MyEdSpace is the ability to revisit lessons and learn at her own pace.
“At school, if you don’t understand something, you can’t rewind. With MyEdSpace, you can go back and watch lessons again, and teachers explain things in ways that really help.”
This has led to real academic breakthroughs, particularly in Science.
“We did a lesson on photosynthesis, and later we covered it again at school. Because I’d already learned it with MyEdSpace, I understood it straight away and could apply it in class.”
Building confidence through community
Having previously experienced one-to-one tutoring, Lawrencia appreciates the supportive and encouraging environment MyEdSpace offers.
“It feels less nerve-wracking. You’re learning for yourself, but there are always people there to help.”
She now regularly recommends MyEdSpace to her friends.
“I tell them to keep an open mind. Tutoring doesn’t have to feel like a chore, MyEdSpace makes learning fun and engaging. It’s amazing."
Looking towards a bright future
Outside of studying, Lawrencia enjoys netball and cadets, and she already has ambitious plans for her future.
“I want to become a neurosurgeon, or work in healthcare. I want to understand how the brain works and help people with brain illnesses.”
With her growing confidence and strong academic foundations, she feels optimistic about the years ahead.
“I feel confident that I’ll do well in my exams because I have people teaching me and helping me understand what to do.”
