Dr Davinder Bhachu graduated with a first-class Chemistry degree, finishing in the top three of his year, before completing a PhD in Chemistry at UCL and working his way up to Head of Chemistry at a school in East London.
Outside teaching, Dav's interests span birdwatching, quizzes and weightlifting, and that same curiosity and enjoyment of a challenge is obvious in how enthusiastically he talks through a tricky topic rather than just rushing to the answer.

Allery Chemistry
Allery Chemistry is run by a qualified science teacher whose particular passion is Chemistry. The videos are clearly labelled so A-level students studying AQA, OCR, Edexcel or another board can go straight to what actually matches their particular specification.
The channel has become a genuine self-study staple, recommended repeatedly by students on forums like The Student Room as one of the first channels to check when a concept isn't clicking from a textbook.

Primrose Kitten
Primrose Kitten is the work of Jen, a teacher who left a research career, including work on kinetochores for Marie Curie Cancer Care and a PhD she ultimately didn't finish, to start teaching Chemistry via YouTube back in 2015.
The channel is actually named after her cat, half Bengal, half Silver Tabby, which gives away just how personal and unpretentious the whole project has stayed even as it's grown to reach hundreds of thousands of students.
Jen has since written official AQA GCSE Required Practicals workbooks and served as series editor for Oxford Revise science revision guides, and has partnered with the Samaritans on tackling exam stress, alongside the core video content.
Her channel now covers full walkthroughs of predicted papers as well as topic teaching, making it a genuinely complete Chemistry revision resource for GCSE and A-level students alike.
MaChemGuy
MaChemGuy is James Donkin, an A-level Chemistry teacher from Sunderland with more than 30 years of classroom experience, whose channel name comes from the local nickname for Sunderland residents, Mackems.
He started the channel by accident in 2013, uploading a few videos to help his own students with tricky topics, and has since racked up millions of views from students in well over a hundred countries.
His videos have been recommended by exam boards including OCR as trusted revision material for their exams.
James covers the OCR A specification in particular depth, walking through both content and exam technique, and was a finalist for ‘TES Teacher of the Year’ in 2020 on the strength of that work.
Getting the most out of Chemistry YouTube
