  • Apply professional values that align with the GMC including honesty and integrity. 
  • Demonstrate resilience and cope with pressure or setbacks. 

Common student struggles

  • Over or under-escalating situations. 
  • Having difficulty with ‘grey-area’ topics - reading the GMC guidance about topics including honesty, patient safety and when to seek help will be helpful in these areas. 
  • Using personal/common sense rather than GMC standards.

Time Management Tips: 

  • Read the GMC 

    • Understanding the standards expected of you by reading the GMC guidelines will provide you with guidance on how to act in particular situations.

  • Learn the common scenarios 

    • In SJT, the same types of scenarios will come up repeatedly. 
    • Learn the mark scheme for these scenarios to save time. 
  • Know When to Move On

    • If a question is taking too long, guess, flag, and skip - don't let one question eat into your time.
    • You can return to flagged questions if time allows at the end.
