Christopher James’ MyEdSpace story

“Before joining MyEdSpace, I wasn’t really learning much at all,” admits Christopher - a Year 11 student who’s been studying with us for 18 months having joined midway through the first year of his GCSEs.

After struggling to get to grips with the step up from Key Stage 3 into GCSE, Christopher signed up for the Ultimate Pass, giving him access to two live lessons a week in English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Ultimate Pass - two live lessons, per subject, per week in English, Maths and the Sciences

It was a decision he is confident has been vindicated, as he’s seen his predicted grades climb towards 7s, 8s and 9s.

“MyEdSpace has helped me so much. From not really knowing much in Science, English or Maths, to now knowing loads. It’s pushed all my grades up and now I’m getting top grades.”"Alex Sarychkin has created an inclusive, interactive learning environment" - Christopher

English has seen a particular improvement, which Christopher puts down to the way his English teacher Alex Sarychkin has created an inclusive, interactive learning environment, in which topics he previously found hard to grasp are covered differently to a traditional classroom.

Alongside learning the subject, Christopher has also found it useful to learn about exam techniques, in particular how to approach questions and structure answers when it comes to exams.

“In English, the way questions are gone through thoroughly has really helped. I understand them a lot more now and feel much more used to the exam style,” he says.Manny helped Christopher lift his Chemistry grades, filling him with confidence ahead of his GCSEs this summer

Another favourite teacher Christopher namechecks for helping him get a grip on previously slippery subjects is Manny, who has helped him lift his Chemistry grades, filling him with confidence ahead of his GCSEs this summer

From there, Christopher plans to go on to study A-levels including English, Maths and Biology, with an eye on one day pursuing a career in the police.
